Which personal data we collect and why we collect it

Data collected by our research

Details of living people, or of people whose date of death is unknown but who because of their date of birth may still be alive, are not shown. The cut-off date used for this is 100 years after birth. Requests to have the names of living people removed are treated with the utmost urgency, as soon as it is technically feasible, and with a target period of 48 hours.

We don’t share data on any social network (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).

We don't distribute a newsletter and don't maintain a forum or blog. There are no mailing lists.

Backups of emails and correspondence, and also of official documentation etc. are exclusively performed offline, thus don’t involve a cloud service or other online services.

Cookies

If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
